 In March,  LuxeLife Media  founder Christina Rice launched  OMNoire , her wellness platform for women of color. Its inaugural retreat quickly followed in October. The sold out four-day event, which was attended by just over 50 women of color from all over the world, took place in Grenada and featured yoga classes, reflective seminars led by life coaches, and personal branding workshops. When asked why she started OMNoire, Rice says that it took her hitting a professional low point to invest in the act of self-care.   READ MORE...

So when the studio announced that it was offering teacher training, she signed right up. It was only when she arrived with her mat that she noticed something striking. There were 54 other women and men in the 10-week course, and not one of them looked like her. A little over a decade later she kicked off  LuxeLife Media,  a public relations firm in New York City. By 35, the Tennessee State alum had spent the better part of her professional career as an entrepreneur, and there was just one problem: she was exhausted. Despite having a decent work/life balance, Rice felt severely unmotivated (or at least under-motivated), and she quickly realized it wasn’t the kind of fatigue that could be remedied by a nap. She eventually turned to yoga. The workout, which includes mindfulness practices, did something that kickboxing and dance classes couldn’t— it centered her.    READ MORE...
