Three Reasons Why We Need To Give Lori Harvey Her Flowers
Updated: Jan 13
Let's be honest, for a lot of us, the new year is not starting off as great as we had hoped. It's like just when we thought we could take a collective sigh for surviving such a strange year; 2021 showed up as 2020's fraternal twin that no one knew about. Between the mess that took place at the U.S. Capitol, and this new strain of the coronavirus; it's like we can't catch a break.
But as luck would have it, Black women save the day yet again; with the release of Jazmine Sullivan's new project, Heaux Tales, and Lori Harvey becoming Instagram-official with actor, Michael B. Jordan.
Not many things impress me, but the way that my good sis, Lori has been baggin' all these fine, well-dressed, and successful Black kings have us all wondering when she's gonna do us a solid and give us the secret sauce. When she and Jordan went public about their relationship after months of speculation, they were trending almost instantly! Black Twitter had a field day. There were so many hilarious reactions from women being either heartbroken that the man in their head, Michael B. Jordan was off of the market, and others wanting Lori to teach a masterclass on her dating secrets.
My favorite tweet came from my Cancer buddy, Jessica Fyre aka Jessi Woo who said, "Lori Harvey really is the Thanos of dating. Michael B. Jordan?! Sis has all her Infinity Stones."
While many had a lot to say in the form of appreciation posts, a whole thread called Act Like A Lady, Think Like #LoriHarvey and even called her the "GOAT," there was still some backlash on how quickly this beauty moves on from one man to the next. Oh, the double standards! When men do it, they are praised and suddenly become more marketable and more irresistible; yet when a woman does it, she's looked down upon and called every name in the book. This egotistical, misogynistic, slut-shaming, and downright ugly behavior that I've witnessed over the internet is just disgusting. We expect that type of ill-treatment from men, but when it's from women; it really throws me for a loop.
This reminds me of all of the shade that folks threw at Jada back when she and August's entanglement was a big topic, and how she had to go to the red table and publicly defend herself and justify why she did what she did. Unbelievable. In this day in age, when you are in the public eye, you have to work overtime to try to protect your image and protect your privacy because folks feel entitled to know your business. I empathize with these celebrities because while they know what they've signed up for so to speak, that doesn't give people the right to try and jeopardize their livelihood or to sabotage what they've worked so hard to build.
What I love about Lori Harvey is that she controls her own narrative.
She minds the business that pays her and creates her own lane; she knows what she wants out of life, and is not afraid to go out there and get it.
She never folds or cracks under pressure, and always keeps her appearance in tip-top shape.
I even heard that she has the sweetest girl next door personality, but will definitely turn up if need be.
Sis is a whole vibe, a movement all by her damn self.
Instead of hatin' on ol' girl, we need to be taking notes.
Her very existence is a testament to women everywhere, that we don't have to settle. If you're not happy with where you are or with who you're with; keep it moving.
In other words...thank you, next!
Do yall see the way she has these men fallin' out?! It's a straight comedy. Every last one of them jokers have either posted her on their personal Instagram pages (they actually claim her), rapped or sang about her on one of their tracks, spent a couple of racks on her buying her all types of expensive gifts, and have taken her on vacation, and/or proposed. By the time she's done with them, they have to work extra hard to find another woman of her caliber, and 9 times out of 10 they fail because she's irreplaceable.
Not only does she have an insane amount of natural beauty and a bangin' body; she also has great business sense.
Sure, she has a rich stepfather and is very well connected and taken care of; but she secures her own bag.
The apple didn't fall too far from the tree; she's in good company with her mama, Marjorie Harvey, something like the Black Kris Jenner. She put her daughter on the game very early; to not just be another pretty face but to do everything with intention, and with the future in mind.
This young Queen, and mogul in the making, is a successful model, and has managed to make a name for herself outside of Mr. Harvey's shadow and influence; by becoming her own brand. She has amassed millions of followers, partnered with major fashion retailers and luxury campaigns, and has a track record of a pretty lit love life.
Before yall go judging her, check her receipts.
I STAN. I STAN.
I wish more women had the courage to live life on their own terms; that they embraced their sensuality and feminity, and used that power to manifest the life that they've always dreamed of.
Women are powerful.
We have a certain je ne sais quoi that men just don't have.
If we really tapped in and embraced the very essence of who we really are at our core, we would truly be unstoppable.
